to the little lady who is making my periodic cake, this is a good template.

I would have no idea where to sit.

Why isn’t this in the backyard? Because if it was, I could have it memorized by now. And life would run so much more smoothly, being able to breakfast in the cold at the nerd table.

“What are these?!” I ask.

“They’re Strangelet gloves,” she replies.

If this is true...

NO. Who asked my permission to do this? This is utterly unacceptable and had better be just a terrifying rumor.

If this happens I WILL have to murder someone. Top on the list those two douchers who can only ruin one of the most perfect movies ever made. —- —- shameless.

giantevilhead:

…I may swear off movies forever. Not because I’m any kind of movie elitist, but because there are some films you just don’t fuck with. And ‘The Third Man’ is one of them.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire might be starring in a remake of the classic Carol Reed film The Third Man…

“She adapted herself to the split-second rhythm of the New Yorker going to and from work. Getting to the office was a nervous ordeal. If she arrived one minute before nine, she was a free person. If she arrived one minute after, she worried because that made her the logical scapegoat of the boss if he happened to be in a bad mood that day.”

Saw some elk up quite close. Yeah, I was standing about 8 feet away… And now I learn you’re not supposed to go within 50 yards of these guys! Apparently you’re not supposed to get close to elk because they will beat and trample you with their hooves of death. Now I learn this? After we fearlessly walked right through a ‘gang’ of them? With an innocent 5 year old? Yes, they are called gangs when they’re together, which I suppose should be the first clue of aggressive tendencies. Maybe Missouri elk are tame, but the word is that hunters are more afraid of elk than bears. Nice.

Here’s what I think: Hunters are insecure wusses that need to shoot things to prove that they’re more powerful than animals without guns. I, however, am so confident and obviously non-threatening that the elk allow me and my people to walk among them.

That’s obviously what happened. More likely, it was the fearless blond child leading the way.

How many home fries come in one order? Oh, 23, of course. That’s the industry standard.

This morning I awoke after 5 whole consecutive hours of sleep. I had coffee. I ate breakfast. I took a shower and donned my gym clothes, for yoga, or the gym, or a run. Then…. I ate lunch… read some articles… watched some silly T.V… Now it’s almost 6.

I’m back in my PJs because who am I kidding. I’m not leaving the house today.

Women define success differently; for some it may be a career, for others the ability to stay home with children. They also define themselves differently. I’m in the unfortunate position of witnessing many friends and colleagues laid off over the past year. But the women are less apt to fall apart — and this goes even for the primary breadwinners — because they are less likely to define themselves by their job in the first place.

Certainly, when you look at the numbers, women have made tremendous strides over the past 25 years. But in the process, we lost sight of something important. After focusing for so long on better jobs and higher pay, maybe the best thing — the enduring thing — we can do is make sure respect is part of the equation too.

If we can change the conversation about women, the numbers will finally add up. And that’s what real progress looks like.
